Bottom width:12"/36st (total circ. 24"/72st)

Garter and stockinette stitch

Key: matching shoulder garter stitch across chest to sleeves knit in stockinette.

Body: From bottom: 3" garter, 3 inch stockinette, 4" garter
Sleeve: 9" at shoulder stockinette decreasing to 6" at cuff. All stockinette
Neck: knit in one single piece (48st/16") or two 8"/24st pieces in stockinette. Total neckpiece lenght is 4"

Girls sweater/Toddler-4/5 years

This sweater can be knit in several different ways.

On, is in pieces, as shown in the pattern at left.

aAnother is by knitting both front and back as single pieces, increasing the total width to create the sleeves, and binding off to get down to the neck opening. This creates a single seam running up the side of the sweater, and along the shoulder. see pattern

Al alternate, is knitting the body and neck in one piece, and the sleeves as additional pieces.. depending on whether you are knitting on machine or by hand, any of these ways is acceptable, as long as finishing is good, and finished sweater fits the measurements at left.
